The Soul State
Matthias Grieder founded »The Soul State« in course of the project »One Metre Squared States«, initiated by Franziska Helmreich. »The Soul State« tries to shift the abstract construction »state« more on a very personal level. The object is painted in signal red and represents the human heart. Each person’s heart and soul carries orientations, belief, prejudices, convictions etc. which is symbolized by the religious, political, economical signs. (Comment. It is not the artist intention to give any political statement.)
The barbwire refers to isolation and resignation of our present time. There’s no access to our hearts. A viewer’s only possibility is to project the own beliefs on oneself soul. »Existence well what does it matter? I exist on the best terms I can. The past is now part of my future. The present is well out of hand.«
Heart and Soul, one will burn.

Simply a comment
Outrage and horror called by words of Heinz-Christian Strache at the WKR-Ball in Vienna 2012, provoked me to design a »memorial stone«.
I took the liberty to comment his statements ironically - with a symbol that is strongly in my awareness: the »Stolperstein«. This metaphor occurred to me appropriate in our fast moving time. A small stone that we pass or step on in reality. A stone in social networks that we like (or don't like).
However this satire is sensed, it is my intention increase awareness of the »Stolperstein« project. Stop and pause for a moment!

artyfucked, 8th issue, released
Finally a new artyfucked is released! It is dedicated to the occupy movement. So it shows lots of sketches refering to those »anonymous« protests. Because this movement comes from the United States, it was logical to ask Zeitvertrieb friend Russel Howze (stencilarchive.org) to provide us with some great street art and stencil photos of his home town San Francisco. The eighth issue is named »Heft 49« (because of the 49ers football team).
Merry Christmas everyone! Zeitvertrieb wishes all of you hapiness, strength, trust, loyalty, health and good luck.
